On 03 April 2017 the scrap recycling seminar organized by the German association of scrap recyclers stopped off at Stahlwerke Bochum GmbH (SWB), again. 25 participants from the scrap recycling and steel industry took the chance for a look behind the scenes at the world leader in differential hardened hammers in the field of shredder technology.
SWB is a specialist when it comes to the development and manufacture of highly wear-resistant tools and components for scrap recycling, crushing and mineral processing. The Bochum based company delivers its products to over 50 nations worldwide. SWB products are used in shredders, crushers and other processing equipment subjected to highest levels of wear.
The visit started with the SWB image movie. Then the SWB team took the participants on an extensive factory tour. There they got to know the individual production steps at close range. The tour followed the production process from the starting material to the highly wear-resistant SWB tool. Afterwards, Dirk Schröder, head of the SWB quality department, gave a detailed insight into the process technology of steel production. Finally, an intensive exchange with SWB experts about wear protection in scrap and metal processing took place.
